The Fall: (La Chute) based on the novel by Albert Camus.
The red-light district in Amsterdam circa 1956: It’s cold, damp, and foggy, and the crowded streets are illuminated by neon lights. In a lengthy confession to strangers in a bar called Mexico City, former Parisian lawyer Jean-Baptiste Clamence revisits his moments of moral uncertainty and hypocrisy.
At the outset of his lengthy confession of his tormented life to strangers, Clamence, uses his audience as a mirror. But when the mirror flips, we are led to question our own actions and inactions, as we strive to find meaning in our harried pursuits, unable to escape the judgment of others.
